Sandustry Demo Guide
Sandustry demo guide: where to download, 30–60 minute checklist, performance tests, demo vs Early Access, FAQ, and buy criteria.
Demo and full Early Access are separate Steam apps. Confirm save transfer claims on the store pages or patch notes — do not assume cloud saves migrate.
Where to get the demo
The free Sandustry Demo is on Steam as app 3490390. Reviews on the demo page have been Very Positive.
The paid Early Access build is app 2764460. Use the demo to validate fun and performance before spending money.
Official community links (Discord, Reddit, YouTube) are useful after a session to compare demo limits with current EA complaints.
What the demo is for
Confirm the dig–refine–automate fantasy clicks for you personally.
Check whether pixel physics feels readable on your machine.
Test early logistics: at least one conveyor / launcher path and watching materials move.
It is not a substitute for the full EA content roadmap Steam describes (more buildings, resources, chains, quests, technologies).
30–60 minute checklist
Install and launch with default settings first. Note FPS in an open dig.
Reshape terrain until you understand collapse / flood risk.
Complete the early refine / gold-oriented intro loop Steam markets.
Place logistics and watch a belt for a full minute — not just a screenshot moment.
Intentionally create a small clog, then clear it with sorting / overflow thinking. That skill transfers to EA.
Increase dig density and building count. Factory games spike late; quit early if your PC already struggles.
Write down one sentence: “I want more of this” or “This is not for me.” Buy decisions get worse when you only remember trailer vibes.
Performance and comfort checks
Watch CPU/GPU when many pixels are moving. Stutter now usually gets worse in larger EA factories.
Try your preferred input (mouse/keyboard). If controls feel hostile in the demo, they will not magically become cozy in EA.
If you play on a laptop, run a plugged-in session and a battery session. Thermal throttling lies to wishlist optimism.
Demo vs Early Access
Steam’s EA notes for the main app describe roughly a year of planned updates with more buildings, resources, production chains, quests, and technologies.
Expect the demo to be a slice. Missing systems are not necessarily “bugs” — they may simply be outside the demo scope.
After the demo, skim recent Steam news and Discord before buying if you care about a specific feature that was missing.
Buy criteria (honest)
Buy if you enjoyed digging + sorting + watching a line stabilize, and your PC held up.
Wait if you only liked the trailer aesthetic but disliked inventory walking or fluid chaos in the demo.
Wishlist and revisit after a major patch if EA depth is the blocker — follow release-date notes and Steam news.
FAQ
Does the demo progress transfer?
Treat demo and full game as separate unless Steam or the developer explicitly says otherwise in patch notes.
Is the demo the full game?
No. It is a free taste. Early Access is the paid deeper build.
Demo reviews vs main game reviews?
Demo has been Very Positive; the main EA page has been Overwhelmingly Positive in our research pass — always re-check Steam for the live tally.
What should I read after the demo?
